Collecting Golf in General
If you like collecting and golf is one of your passions, you have a multitude of choices for your golf collection.  You can try to find items from several centuries ago that could cost you thousands of dollars, or you could collect newer items, such as tees, pencils, or scorecards that would cost you virtually nothing.  I have been collecting golf items since the mid 1970's, mainly books, cards, and comic books.

If you have interest in any type of golf collectible, please visit the Golf Collectors Society web site.  This Society gives you the opportunity to correspond with other collectors, attend trade shows to buy and sell your items,  and learn more about the history of the game and all it has to offer.

Collecting Golf Cover Comic Books

A benefit for this type of collecting is cost.  With the exception of a few dozen books, you can build a very nice collection for under $3.00 a book.  There is an additional cost of proper storage and display, but you have several options in this category..  If you are in a hurry to build a collection, of the almost 500 golf covers known to date, you could find around 70% of them in no time at all.  The others will be where you will have to put in the time and effort and enjoy the hunt.

The old fashion way of finding golf covers is the way I had to start out, due to their being no such thing as the internet.  Visiting comic book stores and conventions was, and still remains, as the method I enjoy the most.  The looking through boxes of comics and finding a gem,  along with the interaction with actual human beings,  brings back the memories of old style of collecting.  Now the internet has become the tool for many collectors.

Ebay is one of the most used of these tools.  At any given moment, you could find several hundred golf cover comic books for sale on Ebay.  You can spend endless hours just looking through the millions of comic books listed to try an find that ellusive book for your collection or one that has not been identified as a golf cover.  The draw back here is that many of these books are not offered from dealers who know how to grade a comic book for condition.  But, unless condition is your #1 priority, I have found most books to be acceptable.  Once you get into the more expensive books is where you really need to be sure that price matches condition.

Other places to look for on the internet are the comic books dealers.  Here you will know that, in most cases, the grading of the book will be more accurate. However, since you are working with a business, the cost might be a little higher.  There are several really good sources for your golf cover comic books online.   I list three that I use often.

Doug Sulipa's Comic Book World was the first dealer that I remember ordering golf covers from many years ago.  He still has the best supply of golf covers from many publishers.  His Comic Book World is in Canada, so he has more insight into those covers that were printed for the Canadian and even the UK market.  Doug was very instrumental in helping with the Variant issues research, if you collect these versions.  Doug continues to be very helpful in my search for more golf cover comic books.

MyComicShop (Lone Star Comics) is very easy to navigate and their cover images load very quickly.  They have a very good database of covers.  You can find lots of golf cover comic books on this site.  (When you get to their site, go to "advanced:, scroll down to "Browse by cover subject",  and scroll down to "golf". As of now, they list and show over 230 different golf covers.)  Their packaging of your order assures that you will receive your comic in great shape.  Cost of their comic books is the best that I have found .  Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

Mile High Comics often has copies of golf covers in a variety of grades.  If you give them your email address, they will keep you informed of CODEWORD sales of up to 60% at times.  USA orders over $30 usually qualify for free shipping.
